Holiday hiring has started in Lethbridge.
Walmart has posted 16 jobs in the last two weeks. The City is hiring for rink season. Lethbridge Polytechnic added eight jobs. And the better-paying work is still out there: a City electrician job pays up to $56.83 an hour, and the province is hiring a meat inspector at up to $86,011 a year.
Our job board alone has 158 open jobs in and around Lethbridge from 25 employers. There are plenty more on company career pages and other sites, but these are the ones we’ve pulled together in one place.
Counts and closing dates were current on Oct. 27, 2026, and change as jobs fill and new ones go up.
Is Lethbridge’s job market busy or slow?
Steady, with a few things worth knowing.
Unemployment is down. Lethbridge’s unemployment rate was 5.5% in September, Statistics Canada’s latest numbers show. That’s down from 5.6% in August and well below Alberta’s 6.4% and Canada’s 6.5%. Compared with a year ago, it’s down 2.5 percentage points.
But fewer people are working than in August. Lethbridge had about 1,700 fewer jobs in September than the month before. It’s roughly the same number as a year ago. Part of the drop in unemployment is because fewer people are in the labour force, not only because more people found work.
Alberta is doing better than the rest of the country. Canada lost 68,000 jobs in September, while Alberta added 23,000.
Seasonal hiring is picking up. Retailers like Walmart and Costco staff up every fall for the holidays, and the City adds rink staff once the arenas open. If you want part-time hours before Christmas, now is the time to apply.
The biggest local employers are hiring. Retail, health care, construction and manufacturing employ the most people in Lethbridge, and you’ll see openings across most of them below.

Walmart is staffing up for the holidays
Walmart’s 23 Lethbridge openings are the biggest batch of new postings on the board this month. Most are part-time store jobs: general merchandise and fashion, food and consumables, stocking, unloading and checkout.
Two kinds stand out. There are four OMNI Customer Fulfillment Associate jobs, the people who pick and pack online pickup and delivery orders. That work gets busy in November and December. There are also two Overnight Associate jobs, for anyone who’d rather work while the store is closed.
If you want full-time hours, look at the team lead jobs (Stocking, Produce, and Food and Consumables), the Maintenance Team Associate, the Modular Team Associate who resets shelves, and a full-time Staff Pharmacist.
The City of Lethbridge: rink jobs and a $56-an-hour electrician
The City’s newest jobs follow the seasons. With arenas open for winter, it’s hiring a part-time Recreation Operator at $41.35 an hour and a part-time Ice Marshall at $29.42 an hour. Both close today, Oct. 28.
The standout trade job is the full-time Traffic Signal Electrician, at $52.92 to $56.83 an hour. It’s open until Nov. 18, the latest closing date of any City job on the board.
The City is also hiring a part-time Health and Wellness Nurse (closes Nov. 4), two Water Treatment Plant Operators, a Transportation Operations Manager and a General Manager of Transportation and Transit. Lethbridge Police Service’s Police Officer intake is still open.

Plant, field and trades work
For people who’d rather not work in an office or a store:
Inter Pipeline is hiring a Field Operator. The posting went up Oct. 20 and closes Nov. 4.
Richardson International still has two jobs at its Lethbridge canola crush plant: a Crush Operator and a Millwright.
The University of Lethbridge needs trades too: a full-time Industrial Instrumentation Technician and a full-time Electrician, both continuing positions.
The province’s Meat Inspector job, posted Oct. 26, pays $65,674 to $86,011 a year. It suits someone with a meat-cutting or food-processing background who wants a government salary.
The university and polytechnic: 42 jobs
The University of Lethbridge’s 29 openings run from casual campus work to senior leadership. The biggest is a Director of the School of Engineering, posted Oct. 14. It’s also hiring a Deputy Registrar, three Assistant Teaching Professors in the Faculty of Education, a Financial Analyst, a Marketing Production Coordinator and a full-time Executive and Administration Support role.
The Standardized Patient job is still one of the most unusual on the board. You’re paid $26.18 to $28.97 an hour to act as a patient so medical students in the Southern Alberta Medical Program can practise.
Lethbridge Polytechnic posted eight new jobs in the last two weeks, many in health care training. They include:
An Instructor for the Primary Care Paramedic program
A Simulation Assistant
A Youth Initiatives Coordinator
A Registration and Records Specialist
Student research assistant jobs
It’s also hiring instructors for its powerline and heavy equipment technician apprenticeship programs.
