Officers searched a home in Lethbridge's Victoria Park neighbourhood on March 19 and walked out with the largest fentanyl seizure in the city's history.
The haul just over 2.25 kilograms was stashed throughout the residence, which sits near Chinook Regional Hospital and a middle school. At an estimated street value of $450,000, it would represent roughly 22,000 doses.
ALERT's organized crime team made the seizure alongside the Lethbridge Police Service.

Already Out on Bail
The woman arrested, Sherry Hopkins, 49, was out on two court-ordered release conditions at the time both tied to previous major drug seizures in the city.
In July 2025, Hopkins was caught with 1,137 grams of fentanyl. Less than a year later, she was found with nearly double that amount.

She now faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of more than 2,000 cigarettes, and breach of her release order. Fourteen cartons of contraband cigarettes and over $8,000 in cash were also seized from the home.
Hopkins remains in custody. Her next court appearance is April 23, 2026.
How It Compares
Lethbridge's previous record fentanyl seizure was 1.6 kilograms, taken from a home in December 2022 as part of a million-dollar drug bust. The accused in that case was sentenced to 12 years in prison a sentence that began in February 2025.
The March 19 seizure surpasses that by more than half a kilogram.
"Fentanyl remains a top priority for ALERT," said Staff Sergeant Trevor Sheppard. "When individuals involved in serious drug trafficking are released, the impact is felt immediately in our neighborhoods."
